Just last week, Icicle Fund was able to donate a major and crucial contribution to this monumental land conservation project where 9,243 acres of land was transferred to the Colville Tribes.  This project was a collaboration between Conservation Northwest, The Nature Conservancy, Department of Natural Resources and US Fish and Wildlife Service. Acquisition of this property known as the Figlenski Ranch protects core shrub steppe and riparian habitat and protects a vital linchpin ensuring a sustained connection of natural habitat corridors. The corridors run east to west (linking the Cascades and Rockies for carnivores) and north to south (linking arid grasslands between the Columbia Basin and B.C. Okanagan).  This is also a monumental return of native land to the Colville Tribes who were its first stewards before it was taken from them in 1892.

“Icicle Fund is thrilled to be a part of saving this land that will have immediate and long-term impact to this region.” says Christine Morgan, Executive Director, Icicle Fund.
