Grant Programs

The Icicle Fund awards grants to non-profit organizations who develop North Central Washington as a region where nature, the arts, and the area’s natural and human history encourage appreciation, understanding and stewardship of this special place.

We value projects and initiatives that foster a collaborative atmosphere, connect all peoples to place, and are aligned with the Icicle Fund mission. We fundamentally believe that by working together we can increase the impact of organizations across this region. When mutually beneficial, we encourage exploration of collaborative relationships with one or more of the six Icicle Fund lead organizations.

Our grant programs provide three different avenues of support. Each organization may only apply for one Icicle Fund grant per year.

Initiative Grants - due March 4th, 2019

Overview and Program Goals

Initiative grants are single-year grants of up to $7,500. Our goal is to contribute to smaller organizations’ ability to fill gaps in the community in the areas of arts, environment, and history. Project goals should be accomplished within the 1-year grant period. All eligible organizations can apply for Initiative Grants every year.

Application Process and Timeline

Applications are DUE MARCH 4, 2019. Once the application is submitted, it will be reviewed by a committee. The full Icicle Fund Board uses recommendations from several committees to guide funding decisions at its June meeting. Notification of awards occurs mid-June.

Strategic Project Grants - due March 4, 2019

Overview and Program Goals

Strategic Project grants are one or two-year grants of $15,000 or more. Grants are given to innovative, inspiring, and impactful organizations and projects in the areas of arts, environment, and history in NCW. The program goal is to enable organizations to work on a particular mission-centered and strategic project to create a significant, long-term impact on the organization and its local or regional community. If your organization received a grant under the Icicle Fund Strategic Project Grant Program you are not eligible to apply for any Icicle Fund grants until a year after the end of the Strategic Project grant period.

Application Process and Timeline

This program employs a three-step application process, which starts with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) that is due on March 4, 2019.  Both the LOI and the application must be submitted through the online application system. These will be reviewed based on projects’ potential of furthering the Icicle Fund mission. A small number of applicants will receive an invitation to submit a full application.  Once the application is submitted, we will schedule a time for a site visit.  The full Icicle Fund Board uses recommendations from committee review and from site visit evaluations to guide the funding decisions at its June meeting. Notification of awards occurs mid-June.
