Strategic Project Grants

Overview and Program Goals

Strategic Project grants are one- or two-year grants of at least $15,000. Grants are given to innovative, inspiring, and impactful organizations and projects in the areas of arts, environment, and history in NCW. The program goal is to enable organizations to work on a particular mission-centered and strategic project to create a significant, long term impact on the organization and its local or regional community.

Application Process and Timeline

This program employs a three-step application process, which starts with a Letter of Inquiry (LOI).  Both the LOI and the application must be submitted through the online application system. These will be reviewed based on projects’ potential of furthering the Icicle Fund mission. A small number of applicants will receive an invitation to submit a full application.  Once the application is submitted, we will schedule a time for a site visit.  The full Icicle Fund Board uses recommendations from committee review and from site visit evaluations to guide the funding decisions at its June meeting.

Focus Areas

We support non-profit organizations that work to protect the environment, advance the arts, and promote the natural and cultural history. When arts, environment, and history are naturally interconnected, we strongly encourage projects that integrate two or more of these focus areas.

Within the focus area of environment, preference is given to projects that will address our Areas of Priority in Conservation. Areas of Priority in The Arts will be available by January 1st, 2019. We currently do not have specific areas of preference in history.

For additional information, please contact one of the five lead partner organizations or the Icicle Fund.
