Icicle Fund Awards 25 Grants in December

At its December meeting, the Icicle Fund Board of Directors awarded over $700,000 to twenty-five North Central Washington non-profit organizations. Projects funded include laying the groundwork for a sustainable local food system, improving Lake Chelan water-quality with salmon-safe vineyards, and building new audiences for traditional arts in NCW's underserved communities. A record number of the region's small museums received awards for such things as building a new interpretive center in the Methow Valley, working with local high school students to develop an oral history project in the Entiat, and developing an outdoor display of the work of the noted photographer Frank Matsura in Conconully.

In addition to the December grants, Icicle Fund support helped to protect 52 acres in the Wenatchee Foothills this fall.
